TEST STRIP
  • Strip of printing paper or film that is given a range of trial exposures.


​TONAL RANGE
  • Range of shades of grey, between the extremes of black and white.


​TRIPOD
  • A 3-legged or a monopod used to give the camera support and give greater stability.
  • Vital for long exposures.


​UNDER-EXPOSURE
  • A dark image caused by insufficient light reaching the film.


​UPRATING
  • Exposing the film as it it were more sensitive to light than its ISO rating.


​VIE
WFINDER
  • The part of the camera you look through to frame the picture.  It cam also provide other information - i.e. focusing and battery life, etc.


​WARM LIGHT
  • Any light that tends towards red / orange / yellow.


​WINDER
  • The mechanism built in to the camera to wind on the film.
  • It also re-cocks the shutter after each shot and can also rewind the film when it is finished.
